Questions and Answers with Kelly Parsons

My book True North is perfect for bookclubs as it has many discussion points. I have created a Q and A which answers many of the questions I get asked about the book to help book club discussions. Also as a sort of FAQ!

What do you consider the biggest barrier to setting off on a trip like yours?

Finding the capacity to not listen to my fears and listen to my heart. Its OK to dream big and follow them as unreservedly as I can. Living in the moment is frightening until I see the wisdom in its benefits.

Would you ever consider traveling without your dog or with another, human companion?

I can’t imagine traveling without the Scoobs. She is one of the most significant joys in my life. We have an unmistakably unique spiritual bond.

I believe it is inevitable that I will be allowed to share these majestic experiences with another person when the time is right. The journey will reach a whole new level when I am given the opportunity to share it with another.

You love to travel but would you rather live on land or at sea?

I really can’t say for sure. I haven’t lived at sea; Yet. To have the experience of living at sea is still in my sights. I think of it often. Today it seems to be the ultimate experience of all that I Love. I know that moment will be unmistakably clear when the time is right.

If you hadn’t started traveling, what do you think you’d be doing now?

I haven’t a clue. Though I know I love what I am doing now and that if I had ended up doing what I imagined my life would be like, I would have sold myself short.

What is the place in the US you wish to return to again and again?

I haven’t found such a place. I thrive on experiencing new and yet-to-be-explored places.

You spend a lot of time considering the concept of home. What is your opinion of the concept now?

Home is in the journey.

-If you had never had an addiction, do you think your life would have been as spiritually aware?

Hell no! I once consider myself an atheist. If it were not for the knee buckling pain administered by addiction and life, I am certain the sincere seeking of a spiritual connection would have never taken root.

Where or when is your favorite time to write?

I seek out majestic places in the wild for inspiration. It is in those places where I am moved by the emanating love of the Divine. The when takes care of itself.

Are you considering more books about your adventures?

Absolutely! I love to write! I currently wrapping up my next, True North- The Nature of Love, and future books are rattling around in my noggin. I sincerely believe it is a Divinely given gift for me to enjoy and share. Writing about my life has proven to be a valuable healing tool for me and for making sense of what I am experiencing spiritually. Writing has evolved into a significant component and expression of my spiritual experience.
